About Loom Dude:

Gregory Huff (aka Loom Dude) is a published artist who lives in NJ. Over the years he has utilized a variety of media in his work, including oils, watercolor, collage, and photography, but scratchboard is his favorite medium. "I love the way scratchboard emphasizes the dramatic contrasts between black and white. Working with scratchboard gives me a connection to my art that I don't always get with other mediums. I like making art that is thought-provoking and interesting to look at."

HOW I GOT INTO LOOM KNITTING:

"In 2008 I wanted to create some unique Christmas gifts for my family and friends. At first I was going to make a quilt. But I never made a quilt before, and it was such an ambitious project to undertake in such a short amount of time that I decided to make scarves instead. I had always wanted a knitting machine since childhood, and this seemed like the perfect time to get one. A trip to a thrift store provided me with the inexpensive knitting machine I was looking for! I tried it out, but I was disappointed with the process and the results. I went to my local department store looking for knitting machines, but only saw looms there. So I figure, why not give the loom a try?"

"I bought the Knifty Knitter purple loom and knit my very first scarf. It was a great success, and I went on to make 9 more that year, including one for myself! Needless to say, the knitting bug had bitten me. But it wasn't until 2009 that the loom knitting fever started to take over, and now I knit all year long, making and designing all kinds of different things. I developed a passion for loom knitting, and it brings me peace and joy. You can see some of my cool knitting projects here and follow my blog at http://loomdude.blogspot.com."

"To the man who loves to knit: you are not alone!!! Knitting isn't weird, it's wonderful! E-mail me and tell me all about how you discovered knitting!"
